JESSIE OH – Fact-checker

B.A. Psychology Major. Korean-Canadian nursing student. Hopeless humanist. My goal is to become a nurse who is not only competent but also genuinely caring.

TERRELLE KLOSE – Editor/Writer

After living in Winnipeg for three years, I got a degree in vocal performance and very, very cold. With a passion for caring, I bring fervor to my new journey into nursing. I have written for and edited the performing arts column for a local arts magazine as well as copywriting for professional products.

JENNY LEE – Writer

I received my BA in psychology with a minor in health and society from UBC. I am interested in health promotion and improving the quality of life for people, groups, and communities. Upon graduation, I hope to continue building my skills and knowledge in medical-surgical nursing before pursing other areas of nursing. My work and volunteer experiences have frequently connected me to communities, so a natural choice for me is to pursue my passion for a career in public health and community nursing in the future.

LINDA YANG – Writer

Future registered nurse eager to advocate for cultural safety to improve health care delivery for patients. Passionate about working with children and hope to join the team at B.C Children’s Hospital. Currently, a BCNU and CRNBC Student Representative, and a Canucks Autism Network Support Staff. Background education: Bachelors of Science Major in Microbiology and Immunology

ANITA SHEN – Writer

As a sometimes-hitchhiker, sometimes-tourist through nearly thirty countries, I’ve broken bread with the rich on beaches and planes, and the poor everywhere else. I think three things are crucial in any society: health, education, and social equity. At BCIT, I’ve been Set Rep, Level Rep, and Student Rep on EdCo, and I am interested in working up North.

NEILA TONG – Writer

Pre-Nursing student. I fell in love with the profession because of my experience in clinical research, and my experience in caring for ill family members. I’m interested in Palliative Care and working with those who are marginalized. I believe that no step is too small when it comes to pursuing your dreams. I look forward to sharing with you my journey to nursing school, and the little tips about nursing that I learn on the way.

DENNA NAEMI – Editor/Writer

Nursing student. Passionate about healing others and truly making a difference in every patient’s life. I strive to create awareness about marginalized populations as well as educate people on the occupation (and lifestyle) nursing is. Interested in pediatric, as a former preschool childcare educator, and psychiatric—an expanding field only just beginning to receive the attention it deserves. I’ve previously written on UVic’s student newspaper, the Martlet, and I can’t wait to contribute to this newsletter to provide a broader perspective on current health related stories and issues!

RUILIN LIU – Writer

Former UBC graduate with a degree in Biology specializing in cell biology and genetics. My interest and passion about the health care field and working with others led me to pursue nursing and eventually specialize in the ER. Through years of volunteer experience, I have worked with a variety of population from seniors to children to the marginalized groups of DTES. It is my hope to help bring attention to the inadequacies of our health care system to promote healthier better lives for everyone.
