BCIT Student Nursing Association

Our Vision

To achieve excellence in cultivating community and global leaders through encouraging student engagement, professional development, and personal growth in the BCIT nursing student population.

Essentially, the BCITSNA aims to engage the BCIT nursing population in the larger nursing community as well as enhance their student experience.

Our Values

Nursing leadership: We believe in leaders that are respectful, competent, and responsible. Nursing leaders are advocates for the both the art and science of nursing. Nursing leaders empower those around them and take action to promote cultural safety in the populations they serve.

Student health and well-beingWhile we encourage nursing excellence in the classroom and community, we recognize the impact of the intensity of the nursing program at BCIT. As such, we value and encourage student engagement and self-care activities to promote student well-being.

CollaborationWe believe in collaborating with the BCIT community and the community-at-large to foster long-term relationships that benefits both the students and communities. We believe in learning from one another through forming respectful partnerships.

Respect: We believe in respecting individuals’ diverse lived experiences, culture, and values.

Our History

Prior to the development of the BCIT Student Nursing Association (BCITSNA), no student group existed that aimed to connect the cohorts in the nursing program. The BCITSNA was initially founded by Terrelle Klose and Louise Jingco in 2018 for the purpose of connecting students from various cohorts and providing opportunities for them to network and enhance learning beyond coursework. BCITSNA strives to not only to enhance student life, but to also to engage students in the community.
